A Fragile Hope

I started off with a determined mind
I had to put on the veil of being kind.

Kindness is all you need
If you want someone to pay you heed.
Bluntness renders nothing but scorn
The path of righteousness is full of thorns.

I was brought up with tales of morale
But people today have hearts too frail
To accept their flaws
And fix their faults
To let someone stand
And surrender their stance

I have tested my kindness
I can't persist this passiveness
This is too much to cope
All I am left with is a fragile hope.
